TIMBER LANES

THE BEGINING

Timber Lanes was opened in 1990 by Louie and Jackie Clasen, they were only 24 years old with a baby on the way (Samantha, who runs the business alongside her father today). The other two bowling centers on the West side of town had closed down and sold to Walmart. The Clasen’s were leisure bowlers who believed Maquoketa deserves to have a bowling center in town. They named it Timber Lanes because back then Maquoketa was known as the “timber city”. With a lot of hard work and convincing people that a farm kid from Springbrook and his young family could make a go of it, they purchased farm ground at 1005 E Platt St, Maquoketa, IA.

WHAT’S INSIDE

Timer Lanes started with a small kitchen and 12 lanes that were filled 7 nights a week. A few years later they added a softball field and sand volleyball. They have even thrown huge parties in the Summer that brought in big name bands and brought people in from all around.

THE TIMBER CENTER

In 2017 they added a large open hall that can hold up to 500 guests and remodeled the kitchen to accommodate the increase in food sales. The Timber Center has a beautifully custom bar, open floor plan, plenty of windows for natural light, back patio, and more. The Timber Center has started catering in 2023 and has made an array of requests. The Timber Center has hosted events such as weddings, corporate events, anniversaries, graduations, proms, benefits, celebrations of life and more.

The Clasen and now McLaughlin families have plans to continue offering the community with needs we see that will continue to bring in new people to the area, as well as provide entertainment for all ages.
