This quaint little flower shop and restaurant in Bellevue, Iowa started out as a family owned flower shop. Sisters Algean Budde and Dorthy Weinshenk opened the doors in 1975 and it has served as Bellevue’s only florists for 44 plus years. In 1990, Flower Lane added “Carousel Corner”, a small restaurant offering scrumptious lunches and great homemade desserts. What started out as the dream of two sisters is carried on today by Algean’s daughters, Lori Michels and Sally Michels, who love caring for the shop as much as their mother and aunt once did. Carousel Corner & Flower Lane’s customers, near and far, absolutely love this adorable little shop!
All in the Family
Lori is the talent behind the beautiful floral arrangements that leave the shop almost daily. And during the busiest seasons and events (Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mothers’ Day, prom, homecoming) it takes a family to keep up with the flower orders. Brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles (even grandchildren) rise to the occasion ensuring every order is perfect and delivered on time. Flower Lane also offers wonderful gift ideas besides made-to-order floral arrangements, including memorial stones/angels, holiday décor and potted plants. There’s so much this little shop offers!
About the Menu
You’ll want to stop by for lunch. Prices are very reasonable and the food tastes amazing! Everything is homemade from old family recipes. The daily special includes a cup of soup (or some other entrée) – usually 3 – 4 to choose from; a small sandwich – again, 3 – 4 to choose from; and a choice of desserts. (Psst … try the bread pudding, it’s a number one favorite. Oh, and the delicious frosted sugar cookies also get a big thumbs-up!)
